FLOWER BINGING IN SAUDIA ARABIA
In the mountains of southern Saudi Arabia, not far from the border with Yemen, men decorate their hair with flower garlands and sweet-smelling herbs. The flowers are grown by rural farmers and tied into garlands in the village markets.
Wearing flower garlands is a long-standing tradition in this region, from the mountains around Abha down to the other side of the Yemeni border. Men and boys wear them around their heads, often with aromatic herbs tied in together with the flowers.
